Conditions of sustainable mobility in the context of the development of public transport connections in the subregion of Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie

Abstract:  Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie, as cities located peripherally, are characterized by limited transport accessibility. The flood damage in September 2024 caused additional mobility problems in their entire subregion. Access to these cities was temporarily completely impossible due to the destruction of infrastructure, including roads connecting them with Kłodzko. Both Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie are the most important towns of the eastern part of the Kłodzko region being at the same time closely connected with other settlement units of the Kłodzko County. The aim of this article is to analyze the conditions of mobility in the Lądek-Zdrój and Stronie Śląskie subregion with reference to the entire Kłodzko Country and its surroundings. The study included analyses of theoretical sources of passenger flows and travel destinations based on data from the Central Statistical Office and the Central Statistical Office of Geodesy and Cartography, along with the methods of: ranking, spatial statistics – including LISA, analyses of distribution density using the DBSCAN method in ArcGIS Pro, and modeling of the transport network in PTV Visum. As a result, it was possible to determine potential passenger flows, as well as routes of future railway connections between Stronie Śląskie and Lądek-Zdrój, and the concept of developing bus connections in the subregion to improve its transport accessibility in the future.

Impact of spot closures on the road and street network caused by ongoing railway investments on the operation of urban public transport on the example of the Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis

Abstract: The Górnośląsko-Zagłębiowska Metropolis (Metropolis GZM)  is a highly urbanised area with over 2 million inhabitants in an area of 2,500 km2. The considerable territorial spread of the metropolitan area means that the fastest and most efficient way to travel between the central areas and the extremities of the Metropolis is by rail. The construction of the metropolitan railway requires the reconstruction of numerous facilities at the interface between rail and road traffic, which affects the need to reorganise the urban public transport network for the duration of the works. This article attempts to analyse the impact of selected point closures on the road and street network, caused by ongoing railway investments, on the operation of urban public transport in the Metropolis GZM, using proposed measures that take into account the number of lines affected, the duration of the investment, the stop infrastructure and the change in operating work and rolling stock demand.

Analysis and evaluation of public transport services  in the Municipality of Skawina

Abstract: The aim of this article is to analyse and critically evaluate the current public transport services in the municipality and town of Skawina. The article focuses exclusively on bus transport services, and is divided into three parts. The first part outlines the history of bus transport in the municipality of Skawina since 1975, when the first permanent connection between Skawina and Kraków was launched, operated by Kraków’s public transport network. The second part analyses the current public transport system in Skawina, operated by various organisers. On this basis, the last part presents possible solutions for the development of bus transport in the municipality.

Analysis and evaluation of the functioning of public transport in Tarnów

Abstract: Public collective transport is an indispensable element in the functioning of modern urban agglomerations, influencing the mobility of the population, the quality of life, the economy and the state of the environment. In the context of growing problems related to urbanisation, CO₂ emissions and congestion of road infrastructure, the role of an efficient public transport system assumes particular importance. The article characterises public transport in Tarnów and the Tarnów poviat, presenting the current state, an analysis of the main difficulties and a proposal for improvements. Attention was paid to municipal public transport and public transport of private carriers. The article is based on a review of legal and strategic documents, analysis of statistical data, field observations and interviews with residents.
