Analysis of Public Transport Operation During Renovation of the Józef Piłsudski Bridge in Nowy Sącz

Abstract: Road investments, especially those related to the reconstruction of the street network, are a hindrance for both residents and organizers of mass public transport. The problem refers not only to national and provincial roads, but also those located in smaller towns. Renovated objects have often a significant impact on the functioning of traffic in the city. Therefore, during their modernization, alternative detour routes should be properly planned and convenient form of substitute communication should be provided. The article analyses the functioning of substitute communication for the duration of the reconstruction of the Józef Piłsudski Bridge in Nowy Sącz. Due to the non-standard solution – as for the area of Sadecczyzna, the main focus was on the railway communication. The results of measurements of the vehicle’s full capacity in subsequent courses on a working day and on Saturday, as well as marketing research of train passengers with this type of substitute communication have been presented. Also a solution have been proposed which could be implemented when the reconstruction of the road bridge will be completed.

Analysis of the use of passenger terminal capacity in Kraków Airport with the reference to the service quality standards

Abstract: The growth in air traffic in recent years has led to problems with capacity to handle air transport. There are problems with high volumes of air traffic and aircraft, but above all with overloading of passenger traffic at many airports. Insufficient airport capacity may significantly reduce airports development. The article presents an analysis of the capacity of the passenger terminal at the John Paul II International Airport in Krakow (MPL), taking into account the standards of passenger service quality in its particular zones recommended by the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Kraków Airport was chosen because of the recent very rapid increase in the number of passengers checked in and the significant expansion of the passenger terminal. The analysis allows the identification of bottlenecks in the passenger terminal and may facilitate the search for solutions improving the terminal capacity until its further expansion.
