Unmarked crosswalks – state of knowledge and practical aspects
Abstract. The safety of pedestrian traffic participants in Poland is the overriding goal of road traffic management organizations. There are numerous activities aimed at securing crosswalks, while only some cities decide to use unmarked crosswalks. This is despite the fact that empirical research on the safety of pedestrian traffic participants proves that suggested pedestrian crosswalks provide, contrary to appearances, a higher level of road safety than traditional marked ones. What is the reason for such low popularity of suggested crosswalks in our country? What are the results of research on the use of unmarked pedestrian crossings? What are the good practices of using unmarked crosswalks in Gdańsk? The main aim of the article is to identify barriers in the use of unmarked pedestrian crossings. The specific objectives include determining the state of knowledge about unmarked crossings and identification of good practices in determining suggested crosswalks in Gdańsk. The literature analysis, case study and industry observation have been applied in the study. The results show that there is a need to change the approach to innovation management in public organizations, as well as changes in regulations concerning pedestrian traffic.

Trams in Lublin – urban concepts and other studies in historical and contemporary perspective
Abstract: The article presents historical plans to launch tramway transport in Lublin. Pre-war concepts have been presented, as well as those from the communist times. Then the Study of conditions and directions of spatial development of the city of Lublin at the turn of the century was analyzed in terms of introducing new means of public transport. In this respect, the provisions of the Lublin Development Strategy for 2013-2020, the Mobility Plan of the Lublin Functional Area for 2017-2025 and the Sustainable Development Plan of Public Transport were also quoted. Next, the author’s own analysis of the directions of development of the public transport system in Lublin was presented, focusing on the possibility of launching agglomeration tramway traction. Finally, the possibility of coexistence of a tramway and trolleybus network in one area has been reviewed.
