Applications to support transport system management
Abstract: Applications supporting transport system management are becoming increasingly popular among companies in the transport industry and their customers (passengers). This article presents applications used in western transport companies. Examples of use, functionality, advantages and disadvantages and implementation of selected applications in a company are presented. The focus is on both good practices, specified in the implementation processes, necessary to achieve real success, and basic human factors affecting the reception of applications. The functionality of selected applications has been assessed in the context of difficulties and potential improvements related to their implementation.

Railway transport in the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin
Abstract: Development of a public transport system which will respond to the needs of approx. 2.3 million inhabitants is one of the most important challenges facing the Metropolitan Association of Upper Silesia and Dąbrowa Basin 2 (Metropolis GZM). It is to be based on rail transport, which is characterised by the highest capacity in comparison with other means of public transport. Additionally, it is ecological, which is of great importance for the GZM area where air quality is one of the basic problems. The purpose of this article is to analyse the role of the railway in the transport system of the Metropolis GZM three years after the launch of its operation, the only metropolis in Poland established by law. In the following years, together with the construction of the Metropolitan Train Network, a dynamic development of rail transport in the area is planned.
